Breeding system

Successful breeding of chickens depends on the breed. And inheritance from parent-parent to child generation

For heredity If we bred using purebred parents or down, they will give off 50-60% of the offspring. This occurs because the dominant genes from the parent breed will be able to suppress inferior traits. Causing the resulting chicks to show their distinctive features But cannot be expressed 100% because there are still some traits that the dominant genes still cannot suppress the recessive traits

If we bred using a purebred chicken breeder Mixed with a hybrid chicken breeder or a hybrid chicken breeder. Mixed with a purebred chicken breeder Will give children about 20-30% good due to the dominant genes from the breeder's side Or the only breeder to suppress the inferior characteristics of the opposite side

If we mix with either parent breeds that are both hybrid chickens Will give children about 10 - 20% because there is no dominant gene that can suppress the recessive gene. Therefore, the genes will spread, there may be only 1 -2 chickens occurring or there may be no good chickens at all.

There are two types of mating systems.

 

1. Inbreeding

It is a cross between kinship animals such as father, sibling / mother, child / child born of the same parent (Full-sib) / child born of the same father but different mothers or the same mother but different parents are mixed. Half-sib / Line breeding To get pure breed chickens must be mixed at least 3 - 4 generations.

  • Can select bad traits from the masses, such as bad minds.
  • Able to pass on genetics (folk, talent, mind) to their children well.
  • Can be inherited regularly

Disadvantage

  • Poor growth
  • Poor reproductive system
  • Low disease resistance
  • High mortality
  • Chance to get a good chicken
 

2. Outbreeding

Is a mix of animals that are not related to each other Or no blood ties Or is the same animal, such as the Thai Panus breed, Thai Trat Or different varieties such as Thai breed Vietnam, Myanmar breed Vietnam, etc.

  • Get a hybrid chicken that looks better than the parent (But must be born from mating between purebred parents only)
  • Good growth
  • Fertility
  • High disease resistance
  • Low mortality
  • The opportunity to get chicken is very good.
